Professional boxing has suffered its second death in less than a week after Argentinian fighter Hugo Alfredo “Dinamita” Santillan died on Thursday from injuries sustained in the ring. He was 23.

Santillan’s death comes only days after Russian boxer Maxim Dadashev died from injuries he suffered during a fight last Friday. The 28-year-old was placed into a medically induced coma after the fight but died on Tuesday.

Santillan, a super lightweight, was fighting against Uruguay’s Eduardo Javier Abreu in Buenos Aires on Wednesday night. According to local reports, his nose started to bleed in the fourth round but he finished the fight. However, as the result of the bout – a draw – was announced, he fainted and was taken to hospital.

The anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) is the frontal part of the cingulate cortex that resembles a "collar" surrounding the frontal part of the corpus callosum. It consists of Brodmann areas 24, 32, and 33.
It appears to play a role in a wide variety of autonomic functions, such as regulating blood pressure and heart rate.[citation needed]
It is also involved in certain higher-level functions, such as attention allocation,[1] reward anticipation, decision-making,[2] ethics and morality,[3] impulse control (e.g. performance monitoring and error detection),[4] and emotion.[5][6]

Fight Song - 40 Dogs on a Log for a Cause - Pooch Pack Adventures

Fight Song - 40 Dogs on a Log

A behind the scenes look at my event "40 Dogs on a Log for a Cause" with voiceovers and an instrumental version of Rachel Platten's hit Fight Song.

To raise awareness for victims of domestic violence, I organized "40 Dogs on a Log for a Cause"
Many people in abusive relationships are afraid to leave the abuse because they are concerned for their pet, and most shelters will not allow the pet either. The SPCA has compassionate boarding available, and the funds raised from this event and from donations help to pay for the care of the pets while their owner is in transition. Thanks to everyone who helped make this event possible and a special thank-you to all of you who have donated as well!

Pernell "Sweet Pea" Whitaker (King of The Ring) R.I.P

Pernell "Sweet Pea" Whitaker the best defensive fighter ever in my opinion he was a four-weight world champion, lightweight, light welterweight, welterweight, and light middleweight, as well as the undisputed lightweight title, and the lineal lightweight and welterweight titles one of all time greats and a tad underrated he was willing to fight anyone never ducked any fighter...got robbed like 3 times and still ended up with a 40-4-1 record my favorite fighter ever

The Hurricane Tapes: Rubin Carter, John Artis and a triple murder

A triple murder. A guilty verdict. Forty hours of tape recordings from Rubin 'Hurricane' Carter tell the real story

Rubin Carter was a middleweight boxer and a convicted triple murderer.
He and John Artis, a teenage track star, spent almost 20 years in prison maintaining they were innocent before they were released.
BBC World Service spent more than a year investigating the case of the Lafayette Bar and Grill murders for their podcast series, The Hurricane Tapes.
Each week, BBC Sport will publish an article to coincide with each episode to tell the story of 'Hurricane' - there are 13 in total.
  • Episode one and two: 'This is the story of the Hurricane'
  • Episode three: 'Cops don't like to have their backs to the door'
  • Episode four: 'What are y'all? Bounty hunters?'
  • Episode five: Meeting 'Chipmunk' and Carter's glass eye
  • Episode six: Ali, Frazier & Dylan unite for Carter
  • Episode seven: New Jersey v Carter & Artis - round two
  • Episode eight: The Canadian commune & Carter's route to freedom
  • Episode nine: Judge Sarokin, Carter - and a massive fish
  • Episode 10: New characters, new theories, new conspiracies
  • Episode 11: The karate champion turned murder investigator
  • Episode 12: Stinkin' New Jersey
  • Episode 13: Black Angel
  • Listen: The Hurricane Tapes
The tapes had been missing for nearly 10 years since author Ken Klonsky recorded a series of conversations with Carter for his book Eye Of The Hurricane: My Path From Darkness To Freedom. The audio contained in the tapes has not previously been heard by anyone other than Klonsky and Carter.

The BBC’s World Service has been investigating three murders that took place at the Lafayette Bar and Grill in Paterson, New Jersey in 1966. Over the past 15 weeks ‘The Hurricane Tapes’ podcast has been broadcast.
Before that, there was simply the Hurricane – Rubin Carter. This is his story.
Warning: This article contains swearing and graphic descriptions of violence.
