In a fierce firefight, unbeaten WBA jr flyweight champion Román “Chocolatito” González (28-0, 23 KOs) overcame a game effort by Manuel “Chango” Vargas (29-8-1, 14 KOs) to take a unanimous twelve round decision on Saturday night at the Plaza San Diego in Puebla, Mexico. González who was making his first defense as 108lb champion after a reign at 105lbs, used ring movement and accurate punching to bust up Vargas and take a 116-112, 116-112, 119-109 nod.
