Don King, on Mike Tyson

"Why would anyone expect him to come out smarter?
He went to prison, not to Princeton."

"To me, boxing is like a ballet, except there's no music
and the dancers hit each other."

Another Insider in the Boxing Game dies: Tony Rila

Before seeing this news articles, Tony Rila was not a familiar name.  He would have had some great stories to tell about boxing trainers and training methods of some of the great champions of the last decade.  Boxing has many behind the scenes characters that we fans never hear about and some of them have some great stories to tell.  Thankfully Angelo Dundee wrote a detailed and interesting biography of his time training Muhammad Ali and many other great fighters.......

More sad news to report as we’ve learned that Las Vegas businessman and friend to boxing Tony Rila passed away last night in his sleep at the age of 66.

Tony was the owner of the state of the art IBA Gym where the biggest names in boxing trained for their Vegas megafights.

The gym was actually located in Tony’s backyard and Oscar de la Hoya, the Klitschkos, Manny Pacquiao, Shane Mosley and Ricky Hatton are just a few of the elite fighters who trained there.

Tony loved the sport of boxing and was well known as a collector of pugilistic memorabilia.

He was also an avid poker player.
