Don King, on Mike Tyson

"Why would anyone expect him to come out smarter?
He went to prison, not to Princeton."

"To me, boxing is like a ballet, except there's no music
and the dancers hit each other."

If a politician's concept of hell is hearing all of his, or her, lies and speeches constantly replayed to them throughout the afterlife, Tyson's torment: ''I want to rip out his heart and feed it to Lennox Lewis. I want to kill people. I want to rip their stomachs out and eat their children.''

Tyson says he rarely watches his fights because he is frustrated by the number of technical mistakes he made ....

Tyson, now 46, wants to prove that even someone who had sacrificed his honour on the altar of decadence and foolishness could seek redemption

He has publicly stated he abhors the man he was and all that he epitomized in his youth - a trash-talking thug who enjoyed inflicting pain on his opponents; and who shamelessly performed for a public that lapped up the misery of a stranger being battered by ''Iron Mike''....

He claims to be ''scared'' of the Tyson that was revered for being a ''bad ass''. However, he conceded it would be a waste of his time if he could go back in time to counsel the younger and angrier being he was.

Tyson, who has embraced Islam, follows a vegan diet and who would seemingly rather shake hands than clench his fist in anger....
Tyson, is in Australia next month for a series of speaking engagements, says he  learned plenty as an impoverished, alienated New York child surviving  by whatever means....

Where I come from, no one gave a f--- about nobody, you know? It was all about being a victim, or a predator. Predator or prey, dog eat dog.''

"There's not too many success stories where I come from. Not all of them can box but a lot of them have the same spirit and will, power and dedication fighters have. They need to channel it into a different direction; maybe writing, maybe painting, maybe becoming part of the medical field."

''They have the same desire and will and dedication."

Life is not about being a boxer but it is about fighting. Sometimes, you have to fight …

The best boxer is the one [who] can endure the most and he's smart and he has guts and that's what you need in life.''
